Derek Flucker delivers a speech at the 2nd Indigenous Business, Enterprise and Corporations Conference (Perth)

The theme of the 2012 Indigenous Business, Enterprise and Corporations ('IBEC') Conference was 'Growth and New Opportunities' for Indigenous Business and Enterprises. The IBEC Conference represented a unique opportunity for Indigenous business leaders, corporate representatives, and leading academics to discuss and present new opportunities for Indigenous people and communities.

Derek Flucker delivered an informative speech titled: "Using the past to build a strong future: Indigenous people working together to benefit from the resource sector". The speech explored the historical struggles which have united Indigenous people and the modern challenges often associated with different Indigenous communities working together in the resource sector. Derek asserted that the lessons of history can be used to unite Indigenous communities and allow the full benefits of the resource sector to be realised.

A press release from Derek Flucker on the employment of Indigenous people being over looked for foreign workers

Agreement to bring in 1,700 foreign workers to Australia's booming mining industry is premature, given that at least 60% of mining operations have neighbouring Indigenous communities which consisture a rich employment resource for the mining industry. Read the full media release.

RBY Projects joins forces with Northern Haulage and Diesel Services (NHDS)

In early May, RBY Projects (RBY), partnered with Northern Haulage and Diesel Services (NHDS) to conduct mining and civil contracts in Rio Tinto's Weipa and South of the Embley project. Read the full article.

A press release from Derek Flucker on the risk associated with abandoned mines and loss of opportunities

 RBY Projects managing director Derek Flucker stated in a media release that abandoned mine sites not only posed a flood management risk, they were also an environmental issue that Aboriginal communities wanted to fix. Derek and RBY have been lobbying the government for the rehabilitation of these mine sites for some time. A discussion of the press release occurred on ABC radio. Read the full media release.

Derek Flucker joins the panel discussion at Yulkuum Jerrang Conference

 Derek Flucker joined the panel discussions about Indigenous involvement in the resource industry and building community while building business at the third Victorian Indigenous Economic Development Conference: Indigenous Business – Culture, Trade and Entrepreneurship. Derek Flucker affirms that the “Mining Boom Can Rescue Troubled Communities” in The Weekend Australian

Derek Flucker stated that the mining boom provided opportunities for Indigenous people to create economic and social advancement opportunities for their families and communities. Derek also explained RBY's experiences in ensuring Indigenous people were able to benefit via employment and training for work occurring on their traditional land.

Derek Flucker delivers at the 2010 AEMEE Conference

Derek Flucker discussed “Mining Your Own Business: Doing Business on Other People’s Country”. The speech addressed potential problems with Indigenous groups working together in the resource sector and explained the fundamental importance of RBY in providing neutral assistance to communities around Australia, without the perception of being tied to community political issues. RBY Projects sponsors Baralaba School

RBY has continued to uphold its commitment to community by sponsoring Baralaba School to purchase much needed electrical equipment. RBY has plans to assist the community of Baralaba by working with Cockatoo Coal to deliver a traineeship program.
